The Militado ML1868KF combines the practical, instrument-like character of a field watch with a chronograph that can measure elapsed time for up to 12 hours. Its compact 39mm case, bead-blasted steel finish and sapphire crystal give it a purposeful look, while the Japanese VK67 quartz movement makes it straightforward to use and maintain.

The case measures 39mm across, excluding the crown, with a 46.5mm lug-to-lug length. At 12.3mm thick, including the crystal, it has a noticeable but relatively controlled profile for a chronograph. The 20mm lug width is a common size, giving you plenty of choice if you want to try a different strap.

Inside is the Japanese TMI VK67 quartz chronograph movement. It is battery-powered, so it does not need to be wound or kept on the wrist to continue running. The three sub-dials display running seconds and elapsed chronograph minutes and hours. The chronograph can measure up to 12 hours, making it useful for timing longer activities than a basic 60-minute stopwatch. TMI lists an estimated battery life of around three years, although actual life can vary with use.

The case is made from 316L stainless steel with a bead-blasted finish. This gives the watch a more subdued, utilitarian appearance than a polished case and suits its field-watch-inspired design. The crystal is sapphire with an anti-reflective coating. Sapphire is highly resistant to everyday scratches, while the coating is intended to reduce reflections and help keep the dial clear to read.

The watch uses a two-colour luminous treatment, listed as BGW9 and a retro tone. This adds visibility in low light while giving the dial a vintage-inspired detail. The case measures 28.5mm across the dial, set within a 39mm case, keeping the overall proportions compact for a chronograph.

Water resistance is rated to 100m/10 bar. The watch has a screw-in crown and a screw-down case construction, which help protect it from water when properly secured. This rating offers useful protection for everyday wear and swimming, but I would not present it as a dedicated diving watch.

For someone looking for a compact field-style chronograph, the ML1868KF offers a practical mix of scratch-resistant sapphire, a bead-blasted steel case and a Japanese quartz movement with a 12-hour timer. Its 39mm sizing also makes it a more restrained option than many larger sports chronographs.

Included in the box:

Militado ML1868KF watch, presentation box and warranty card.

Worth knowing

The VK67 is a quartz chronograph movement, not an automatic movement. Its chronograph can measure up to 12 hours, and TMI lists an estimated battery life of around three years
